Rocky Hill Ranch Needs YOU!

RIDE FOR FREE!

Rocky Hill Ranch requires time and effort to keep things nice for our riders. Cutting back the growth and clearing fallen trees needs constant attention.

After managing this place for a year it has become clear that help is needed and I've never been very good at asking for help. I'm a glutton for punishment I suppose.

Over the past year many people have voiced their desire to pitch in. Crazy as that sounds.

Maybe it was seeing my sweat soaked clothes, or the dazed look in the eyes of an aging mountain biker who seldom has time to ride. Whatever it was, these kind offers have motivated me to find a way to get more people involved in the care and feeding of our precious trails and I've promised each of them that I'd set something up.

I've come up with a hair-brained idea that might just solve this problem and keep RHR's trails maintained and the place open for years to come.

I would like for those who:

  • Have time and who share this unique mental illness, evidenced by their desire to work on trails.

  • Can commit about 8 hours a month (on average) to Rocky Hill Ranch

These special people may select one from our list of trails which they would like to be personally responsible for taking care of.

This work will primarily be focused on trimming to widen the corridor, clearing fallen trees, and other routine maintenance tasks as needed.

They should be a person who:

  • Routinely rides at RHR several times a month and is familiar with their adopted trail

  • Is a self-starter with the gumption to overcome nature's wily ways

  • Values a job well done with a passion for improving their trail steward skills

  • Has some tools for the job, and will take good care of tools loaned

  • Resides nearby to RHR, locals preferred

  • Suffers from no allergies to sweat, fatigue, or daunting tasks

  • Is willing to respond to reports of trail problems within a reasonable time frame

  • Has friends they can connive or cajole into helping, when needed (who will receive Day Passes in exchange for a few hours helping out)

As an RHR Trail Adopter you will:

  • Ride for free at RHR

  • Have access to RHR's supply of trail tools

  • Receive fuel reimbursement for chainsaw, trimmer, etc.

  • Be privy to top secret tips and tricks for battling Yaupon, Cedar, Pine, and Dirt

  • Earn a tremendous amount of Trail Karma, (known to reduce crashes, tree strikes, flats, and broken chains)

  • Be idolized by their riding peers

  • Rack up hours towards TMBRA's Pay Dirt awards

  • Be cheered on by the RHR Racing Lizards (the ones with the racing stripes)

  • ... and other kewl stuff I haven't even thought of, yet
